The Story of Our "Nest"

I've always referred to the classroom as our "nest" and love it most when all of the "ducklings" are tucked in the nest for our days at school.  As we began our Grade Two year together, I thought it might be exciting to build a real nest as a representation of our classroom community.  We have had so much fun bringing everything from snake skins to soccer socks to add to our nest; all symbols of who we are as individuals coming together to create a community.  The students were so proud to weave the items in place and have admired it daily as it has evolved.  We look forward to tucking our welcome stones inside each morning to say I'm here, I'm connected, and I'm ready for our day!  I can't wait to see what adventures will happen with our nest this year!
